ROUTE / START UPDATE
ALL PARTICIPANTS START AT 08:00
As a result of the closure of the N3, the route for the SPAR Weekend Witness Women's 10/5km has been adjusted to avoid the N3 Detour in Alan Paton Avenue. The event starts in Park Drive (close to Princess Margaret Drive) heading towards College Road. It turns left into College Road, running with the flow of traffic to Topham Road where it turns right, again running with the flow of traffic. At John Barker Avenue the competitors turn left proceeding through to Alexandra Road where they turn left, running with the flow of traffic till they get to the Princess Margaret Drive entrance to Alexandra Park where they turn left and then immediately right into Princess Elizabeth Drive, heading down the hill into Park Drive and returning to The Oval. The 5km competitors turn into The Oval’s West (main) gate and onto the field. The 10km competitors complete another lap.
This is a different, more friendly course from 2010 and excludes the steep climb in Princess Margaret Drive and includes a long downhill section from the 2.5km point to the finish.
