Route Information
As a result of the closure of the N3, the route for the SPAR Weekend Witness Women's 10/5km - 2011 has been adjusted.
ROUTE 2011
Start in Park Drive (close to Princess Margaret Drive) heading towards College Road
Turn left into College Road (run with the flow of traffic)
Turn right into Topham Road (run with the flow of traffic)
Turn left into John Barker Avenue
Turn left into Alexandra Road (run with the flow of traffic)
Turn left into Princess Margaret Drive
Turn right into Princess Elizabeth Drive
Turn left into Park Drive
5km turn right into The Oval (West Entrance)
10km proceed straight along Park Drive to do a second lap.
MEDIA NOTICE
Due to the demolition of the existing Chota Motala Bridge over the N3, the following traffic accommodation needs to be done:
1. On 2 September 2011 the South Bound carriageway will be closed to traffic at CEDARA. Light motor vehicles will be detoured along the R103 to PMB and back onto the N3 to Durban .The closure will be staring at 24:00 Friday midnight and continuing to 4 September at 24:00 Sunday midnight. Trucks will be stacked and escorted by RTI Officers through the closure area on a designated route which will be marked out.
2. On 2 September 2011 the North Bound carriageway will be closed to traffic at Alan Paton(PMB)/N3(JHB) split .The closure will be starting at 24:00 Friday midnight and continuing to 4 September at 24:00 Sunday midnight. Light motor vehicles will be diverted via PMB back onto the N3. Trucks will be stacked and escorted by RTI Officers through the closure area on a designated route which will be marked out. Flagmen and detour signs will clearly mark out the detour route for light motor vehicles.
3. The Chota Motala Interchange will be closed to traffic due to the demolition work. Traffic entering and leaving PMB using the Chota Motala Road will not be able to access the N3,City Centre or Greytown Road. Vehicles on the M10 (Greytown Road) entering PMB will be detoured on various routes to get to destinations. The three detour routes will be Ohrtmann Road, Manning Avenue and Willowton Road. Detour markers will be clearly placed showing which detours to use for which destination being travelled. Traffic from the city wanting to access Chota Motala Road will be detoured via Manning road. Msunduzi Police and flagmen will be in place on this route.

This will have a minor affect on the SPAR Weekend Witness Women's 10/5km as we will not be able to make use of Alan Paton Avenue (Durban Road). A revised route is already being tested and promises to be a winner. We will keep you posted.
